Yesterday, before church, I made the littlest girl a new dress. She had been wearing a shirt, that never fit her sister, around the house. I'm not sure who it would have fit.
I love to be inspired by what others have done.
I love to be inspired by other people's projects and goals. It challenges me to get up and get busy. I hope you're inspired to make a little progress on whatever project you've been dreaming of doing.

Shadow Applique Quilt Block
My husband graciously allowed me some time away this afternoon, at my favorite sewing shop (Gina's), to learn a new technique with my sewing/embroidery machine. I haven't decided what I'm going to turn this into, but I think it is beautiful. It's from a set of designs Baby Chicks 'n' Bows by Kathy Drew. Kathy is amazing. Her quilts are spectacular...now I'm thinking I need to sign-up for her Freestyle Machine Quilting class.

Too Many Clothes
For the past month I've been making weekly trips to do our laundry. In the process I have determined we have too many clothes. Cleaning out our closets & drawers definitely needs to be on my project list.

Sewing project update
I'll need to make quick progess if I'm going to reach my goals for the month. I did get pleats in for the little girls' dresses for Easter. I was determined to do this last week so I could spend time on Saturday smocking at the TN Cello Workshop my daughter attended. When I realized I didn't have a dowel long enough to roll the fabric on I had to get creative. I used the curtain rod from the kitchen...worked great.

A beautiful day
It was a beautiful day here...the weather and the roses on my kitchen table made for a happy mama. The little girls were delighted with their new leg warmers...I didn't realize the dd wore the one upside down...
Valentine S'More Bites
I gave up my Monday night laundry outing so I could help the dh hang the wallboard (drywall, sheetrock...whatever the correct term is) in our laundry room. In between putting in screws, overseeing homework and some chores I also made a treat.

My sewing/UFO goals for 2011
I love making goals and lists. The problem is sometimes they aren't very realistic. I forget to take into account that there are six other people living in the same house; that sometimes my goals are not the Lord's goals for me. For example, check out my list I made Sunday morning...
What needs done at your house?
In November, I put some drawers in my bathroom vanity... I loaded them to see if they would hold what I wanted... but I never clipped the ties that held the top drawer closed...not a big deal, seriously, how long would this take?...well it took me a couple of months...but yesterday there was a pair of scissors in the bathroom (didn't find any cut hair - I'm not sure what they had been used for) so I grabbed them and finally clipped the ties. What little thing needs done at your house?
Finished objects
One of my goals for January was to put a new cover/cushion on the foot stool used at our house for piano practice. I claimed it seven or so years ago from my mother's basement. (I think I was going to do needlepoint for it about two decades ago...that never happened).

Homemade Donuts (or Doughnuts)
I've been collecting donut recipes lately and when I heard the boys wouldn't have basketball this morning I saw it as an opportunity to pick a recipe and try it. The only problem was I couldn't decide which recipe to try.
Favorite Deal of the Week
I know some of you use coupons and some of you don't. I haven't always used coupons...but this is why I do now.

Baby Presents
The eagerly anticipated baby across the streeet arrived today. I took a few minutes to further personalize her baby present before going to meet her this evening. Her mommy had requested a birthdate on the blanket I gave her in December. Today the present included at burp cloth.

Cake Mix Cut-out Cookies
My Ironing Basket
My ironing basket often holds a wonderful (and much too large) assortment of items that need ironed, mended or moved on. I recently pulled out these dresses that I had been saving since dd#3 outgrew them to give to my dear neighbor who is anticipating the birth of her first child. The fun part about passing these on is that I'm really giving them back. They are quite a bit more worn than they were when I received them from my dear friend (and neighbor's mom) almost 13 years ago.
